The anatomy of Blah – 8 steps of making a big-ass painting

Over the summer I was commissioned by some close friends to paint to massive sized paintings for their fancy pants Amsterdam Apartment. 180 cm by 140cm to be precise, the largest canvas I’ve worked on so far. With the help of the kind dudes of the Flamboyance Crew who let me work in their gallery space right off the Kinkerstraat in Amsterdam, I spent 3 whole days cranking them bitches out.

Girl in the picture

In the summer of 2006 a good friend and I spent the three weeks traveling around Northern India’s Himalayan Range, through Kashmir and Ladakh.

From the dusty humid streets of Delhi we had taken an overnight train to Jammu, the northernmost train-station in India from where we would take a local minivan up to the Capitol of Kashmir, Srinagar.
The train left Delhi station where cows roamed, owning the place like thugs, and the heat was on full blast. On the train we had veg curries, talked shop with locals, learned some Kashmiri and dropped a clonazepam or two. I was lucky enough to wake up in Jammu without my panties around my ankles. Read More
