The anatomy of Blah – 8 steps of making a big-ass painting

Over the summer I was commissioned by some close friends to paint to massive sized paintings for their fancy pants Amsterdam Apartment. 180 cm by 140cm to be precise, the largest canvas I’ve worked on so far. With the help of the kind dudes of the Flamboyance Crew who let me work in their gallery space right off the Kinkerstraat in Amsterdam, I spent 3 whole days cranking them bitches out.

“Skate This Art” and… It’s a Blog!
This Saturday, April 3rd, “Skate this Art” opens at Gallery 28 in North Beach, San Francisco. Over 100 crafted, designed, and art-fagged skateboards will be on display and auctioned.
Part of the proceeds will go to a local charity.

I’m pretty psyched to be part of this exhibition and have the 2 boards above on display amongst the work of some of my favorite artists, such as Winston Smith and Jeremy Fish.

This announcement also happens to be my very first blog post ever; not just the Blad!Blog, but any Blog – which is ironic since I’ve been whoring for my shekels as a Web-Designer since 1999.
It couldn’t have happened on a more fitting date than April fools day 2010, very fitting indeed.

With the help of various superstition-laden trinkets, motivational tapes, and a whole pantheon of deities from various denominations, I will be able to post non-linear ramblings and asinine thoughts on a regular basis.
Wish me luck, I’ll need it.
